YSHAG (Youth Sexual Health Action Group)

What: a working group that strives to create safer spaces and foster open dialogue about relationships and sexual health, in particular for 2SLGBTQIAP+ youth in Waterloo Region. We create resources made by youth for youth that address current gaps in sexual health education.

Who: YSHAG is open to all folks between the ages of 14-24 years old.

When: Weekly on Fridays from 4 PM – 5:30 PM (Local Socials run on the last Friday of every month from 3:30 PM -5:30 PM in place of YSHAG meetings)

Why: YSHAG is a great opportunity to get volunteer hours for secondary and post-secondary education requirements. We offer free snacks and drinks at every meeting, and bus passes are provided for any transportation needs. YSHAG allows space for community, leadership opportunities and creativity. In addition to the amazing factors above, you will be contributing to the production and distribution of inclusive, accessible and comprehensive sexual health education for you and your peers (what could eb better than that)! All projects, crafts and artistic endeavors are fully funded by ACCKWA (The AIDS Committee of Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo and Area).

How: join by emailing our program facilitator: yshag.wr@gmail.com

Local Socials: On the last Friday of every month, both YSHAG members and non-YSHAG members are invited to attend Local Socials at ACCKWA (5-1770 King St. E, Kitchener) from 3:30 pm – 5:30 PM. These socials allow folks to get familiar with the ACCKWA space and Youth Sexual Health Department (YSHD) staff. Youth are encouraged to engage in expressive arts, crafts, community and conversations about sexual health, relationships and identity.
